Los Angeles is known for it’s glamorous life, traffic and, of course, Hollywood. There is something for everyone in L.A. You can take a tour of Hollywood and Vine, Take a ferris wheel ride at the Santa Monica Pier or relax on the sands of Venice Beach.

Arriving in Los Angeles

There are several airports in Los Angeles, such as LAX, the Long Beach Airport, the Bob Hope Airport, the John Wayne Airport and the LA/Ontario International airport. Greyhound also makes stops in L.A, including the Union Station where you can connect with taxis, Amtrak and the local Metro trains.

Staying in Los Angeles

Take some time to decide where it is you would like to go in Los Angeles. L.A. is a large city, so plan accordingly. If you plan on exploring via foot and public transportation, make sure you are staying close to a Metrolink station. Be sure before booking your room that you aren’t staying near any unsafe neighborhoods.

If you plan to use public transportation exclusively, consider booking a hotel in downtown Los Angeles. It may be a bit more pricey, but you’ll have convenient access to most of the major metro lines to Hollywood, Universal City, Wilshire Blvd, Old Town Pasadena and Glendale.


If you visit Los Angeles during the summer, it is imperative that seniors bring and use plenty of sun block. Straw hats and brightly colored umbrellas will also shield you from the hot California sun. Wear light colored clothing to reflect heat and don’t dress too heavy.
