Party Planning for Assisted Living Seniors in Los Angeles

Senior party planning in Los Angeles

Planning a senior gathering in sunny Los Angeles can be a great way to socialize with friends.  If you are in an assisted living situation or receiving home health care, you can host a party at your house.  Here are some tips to make it easy, fun and affordable.

Potluck Dinner

Invite your friends to a potluck dinner.  Have them tell you what type of dish they intend to bring in advance so you don’t end up with a lot of the same types of food.  Ask one to prepare a meat dish, others to bring vegetables and starches as well.  If you like, you could bake a berry cobbler from the bounty of your garden, if you have one.

Games

Have friends bring a game.  Depending on the size of your gathering, it might not matter if duplicate games are brought.  You could even turn it into a competition, such as chess or backgammon.  Cards are fun and easy to accommodate a number of people.

Drinks

Be mindful of the needs of your guests.  Make sure you have beverage options for your friends who are diabetic.  You could prepare a fruity lemonade and skip the sweetener; have a sweetener caddy so that people can add their own.

Inside or Out?

Wherever you hold your gathering, make sure there are plenty of seats available.  If the party is outside, please be mindful of the Los Angeles sunny weather.  Make sure to provide shade and remind your guests of sunscreen and protective clothing.

Ambience

Everyone loves music.  To set the mood, you can pick one of the many music stations on your television, if you have cable.  You can usually find period music.  If you have a computer, you can also use one of the many internet radio sites to play music.

Sit back and enjoy great food with wonderful friends.  Put disposable cameras around so that everyone can take pictures of moments they want to capture.  You’ll have these memories to share with your friends for year to come.
