Senior Jet Setters: 5 Must Have Travel Items

Posted by on
Essentials to pack when traveling.

When packing for your travels, you can be so focused on having a good time and getting away from it all that you may forget the important things to pack.  Here are some items that Smile Senior Care suggests you bring along to make your trip as smooth as possible.

No matter where you go, sunscreen is a must.  Even in a colder climate, your skin will still need protection from sun rays.  Most people will remember their sunscreen for the beach but be sure to pack it at all times.  In a colder climate, you will need coverage for your face and hands.  A good moisturizer that contains SPF 30 or higher would be ideal.  Don’t forget your hand cream.  Make sure that it has SPF protection, as well.

Water Shoes

Of course you will remember your bathing suit when traveling to tropical destinations but you need protection for your feet.  Water shoes are great for the beach as well as the swimming pool.  You will feel safer, should there be some debris on the beach buried by the sand and when you are wading in the water, your feet will be protected from any sea critters you might accidentally disturb.

Collapsable Laundry Basket

No one forgets their clothing but where are you going to store your dirty clothes?  You can purchase a travel laundry bag that neatly folds up to fit in your suitcase and unfolds to stand in the corner in your hotel room.  It is easier to transport your clothing to be washed.

Toiletry Kit

It’s a good idea to keep a toiletry kit packed if you like to do a lot of traveling.  This way, you don’t have to worry about items that you might forget.  You can have travel sizes of toothpaste, mouthwash, soaps, deodorant, powder, etc.  Don’t forget to pack a disposable razor if you use them.

You will want to make sure that you have all of the documents that you need to verify your identity.  Health cards and medical alert information is also very important.  These documents should be carried in a waterproof case and kept in your purse or carrying case at all times.

These are just a few items you want to make sure you have packed before you embark on your travels.  The better you plan, the less you worry and the more fun you have!
